Reading Festival attendee found dead in “unexplained” circumstances

Police officers are currently investigating the unexplained death of a 17-year-old boy at Reading Festival.

Emergency services were called to the boy’s tent in the campsite near 2 am on Monday, Aug. 28 where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Thames Valley Police, his death is currently being treated as “unexplained” and formal identification has not yet taken place, although his next of kin have been informed.

Reading Festival’s police commander, Superintendent Rory Freeman commented on the passing:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man.

“There is no cause for concern for surrounding festival-goers. I would like to thank nearby campers for their co-operation whilst we are in attendance. Continuing, “We will continue to provide support to the boy’s family at this difficult time.”

The three-day music festival ended on Sunday where it was expected to have attracted crowds upwards of 90,000 people.
