A Tribe Called Quest: Panorama and FYF ‘last’ shows in NY and LA
Since the release of A Tribe Called Quest’s We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service in early November of 2016, the group’s delivered its dissertation on American politics and eulogy in honor of their beloved and recently passed member Phife Dawg. Now it seems the group is finally making its final goodbye rounds. While A Tribe Called Quest has broken up before, proceeding to reunite a few times over the years, this time it appears to be final.
In preparation of saying goodbye to the performance days as A Tribe Called Quest, remaining members have hit an assemblage of cities, honoring Phife Dawg’s life and legacy along the way. Most recently the group played three festival shows: Pitchfork in Chicago, followed by FYF in Los Angeles, and Panorama in New York City.
While in their hometown New York just this past weekend for Panorama festival they announced this would be the group’s final stop in the city.
“This is our last show here in New York. This is it as Tribe,” Q-Tip explained. “We can’t, you know… we gotta honor our brother Phife Dawg. So we wanna thank everybody in New York City for supporting A Tribe Called Quest since 1988 up until now. And we wanna thank all y’all who extended your wishes and empathy and prayers not only to us, but to Phife’s family as well.”
It seems all good things must come to an end, as FYF Festival was reportedly also the group’s last time to hit Los Angeles. While a few tour dates remain for the group including a performance at San Francisco’s Outside Lands — A Tribe Called Quest, Thank You 4 Your Service.
