VELD Music Festival: 5 Must-See Acts

VELD Music Festival makes its return to Toronto this year, switching up their tactic by bringing in a diverse lineup that caters not only to mainstream dance music fans but also those who can get down to rap and hip-hop. Set to take place at Downsview Park on August 5-6, Veld’s lineup covers all ends of the musical spectrum from mega-star DJ and producer Tiësto to the biggest players in hop-hop like Future and Migos.

Madeon

After embarking on the monumental ‘Shelter’ tour with close friend and producer Porter Robinson, Madeon has grown his already impressive fanbase and touched millions with his feels-inducing music. Having already dived into the summer with a variety of solo shows across the nation, Toronto is fortunate enough to receive a second dose of Madeon this year. Known for a variety of original productions like “The City”, “You’re On” and “Pay No Mind”, everything he touches turns into musical gold.

Tchami

Bringing his church service to Downsview Park this weekend, Tchami is set to play VELD’s main stage on the second day of the event. After finishing his most recent nationwide ‘Prophecy’ tour earlier this year, the French producer has gone on to please fans with two new singles: “Adieu” and “World To Me”. Taking a tropical twist on these two tracks, Tchami’s set is bound to be a mix of stomping house tunes and softer, head-bobbing melodies.

Nicole Moudaber

Best known for dominating the dance floor with her dark and groovy beats, Nicole Moudaber will be closing out the Sony Xperia stage on the first day of Veld’s well-rounded affair. Designating an entire stage for techno lovers, Moudaber graces Toronto with a two hour set filled with heavy beats that are bound to get the whole crowd two-stepping.

Migos

Arguably one of the hottest acts to emerge out of Georgia, Migos will take on VELD to throw down an hour-long performance. Scheduled to close out day two of the festival, the trio has skyrocketed into the spotlight after their club smasher “Bad & Boujee” became an international anthem. Definitely not a performance to miss, catch Migos closing the Remy Martin stage at 8:40 on Saturday night.

Getter

Catch his signature blonde locks headbanging on the Remy Martin Stage; Getter makes his return to Toronto for VELD. Following his last slam-packed show in Toronto at the now-defunct Hoxton club, Getter has shifted from producing trap and riddim to creating his rap alter-ego Terror Reid, and everything in between. Other notable ventures include forming his own triple-threat record label, clothing brand, and artist collective, Shred Collective.
