Jack Beats return to AC Slater’s Night Bass with ‘Modulate’ EP

In the past decade, Niall Dailly and Ben Geffin have become renowned for the cerebrally energetic brand of house which defines their Jack Beats project. At times aggressive and at times absurd, their music has branched into various directions over time, yet never failed to be engaging or exciting.

This summer, the British duo reemerged from a quiet period, making a foray into straightforward bass house when DJ Zinc called upon them to collaborate on “The Anvil” as part of his Full House EP. Their followup release, however, has proven to be more in line with their signature style.

Released Friday, September 1, the Modulate EP sees Jack Beats return to AC Slater’s Night Bass imprint. The two-track record continues marks the group’s third EP for the label, following last year’s Work It and 2015’s Not No Love. In both “Pump” and “Modulate,” Jack Beats channel their stylistic tendencies of the early ’10s, while evading stagnancy through an exploration of new synth-work.
