Murder investigation underway at the conclusion of Bestival, festival issues statement & suspect arrested

The four-day boutique festival Bestival graced the grounds of the Lulworth Castle in Dorset, UK this past weekend. Unfortunately, some terrible news has come out of the event as it came to an end Sunday evening. A 28-year-old man from London has been arrested on the suspicion of murder after the body of a 25-year-old woman was found in a wooded area on the edge of the festival. Officers were originally alerted of the body just before 1 a.m. (BST) today Sept. 11. The body has since been identified as the 25-year-old Louella Michie, daughter of Holby City and Coronation Street actor John Michie.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Derbyshire of Dorset Police has said in a statement: “Following the discovery of the woman’s body, we have now launched an investigation into her death. We have specially-trained officers supporting her family at this very difficult time.”

“Enquiries are now underway to establish how she died. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course and this should give us more of an indication as to the cause of her death.” “We are working closely with the festival organizers and I would appeal to anyone with any information about the incident to contact Dorset Police.”

Dorset Police have notified the woman’s family.

The festival has since released an official statement on the tragedy, which has been attached below.

Bestival took place at Lulworth Castle on Sept. 7-10 where upwards of 55,000 people were expected to have attended.
