Sofi Tukker link up with The Knocks, Nervo and Alisa Ueno in ‘Best Friend’
Write down New York-based duo Sofi Tukker on the list of breakout artists for 2017. The duo has made huge strides this year, receiving a Grammy nomination before even releasing a full-length album. Clearly, they’re not stopping this run of ’90s house-inspired jungle pop music anytime soon, linking up with some of the best in the game for their latest single “Best Friend.”
“This song is a celebration of our favorite thing ever: friendship. It’s about the kind of friendship where you can talk forever without anything in particular to talk about. Old friends, new friends, all friends! In the spirit of friendship, we just wanted to have some of our friends hop on a verse!”
Their friends do indeed hop on a verse. They’ve teamed up with Broc and Jpatt from The Knocks and none other than praised Australian duo Nervo. The track itself sounds like a jam sesh, utilizing a sax, bass guitar, cowbell and other instruments over a steady drum beat. Sophie throws in her signature catchy chants and vocals, and gives Tokyo native Alisa Ueno a few bars.
The track was even featured on the recent iPhone X global TV commercial. Typically, any track or artist that lands in an Apple commercial turns to gold (Marian Hill‘s “Down”), so we expect this one to gain some considerable traction moving forward.
