Brian Eno teams up with My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields for nine-minute ambient track
Electronic music’s great trailblazer, the venerable composer Brian Eno, has collaborated with My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields on a new ambient track entitled “Only Once Away My Son.”
Released as part of Adult Swim‘s seventh annual Singles program of exclusive tracks, the nine-minute sonic landscape marks the first time Eno and Shields — the frontman for the iconic shoegaze outfit — have worked together. In over nine minutes of enchanting chimes, drones, and low hums, the musical masterminds conjure up a pleasant marriage of genres.
Ultimately, the number is an eerily evocative, rising deliverance to a state of bliss for its respective listener.
The electronic maestro meets shoegazer collaboration is Eno’s follow up to his Reflection EP released earlier this year.
