Marshmello’s ‘Alone’ reaches platinum status

The public’s love for digestible future bass hits is still going strong, as evidenced by Marshmello‘s latest accomplishment.

His single “Alone,” which was signed by Monstercat and served as his first official release on a major label, has officially reached platinum status — in other words, over 500,000 copies have been sold. Featuring somber, yet euphoric vocals and a simple, a catchy melodic hook, and plenty of bass, “Alone” became a viral hit upon its arrival on digital platforms. The output also cemented Marshmello’s spot among the top tier of EDM producers, after his commercially-inclined take on an exploding genre had been building steady momentum over his SoundCloud.

Additionally, “Alone” is the first platinum record for Monstercat as a whole, making it the label’s biggest release. Marshmello continues to climb in the meantime, earning increasing amounts of fans and airplay. It would hardly be a shock if the producer reached platinum yet again with one of his newer singles — most likely his new Selena Gomez collaboration.
