Pluto launches all-original “outer thoughts” mixtape series

The legacy of teenage electronic music stars is strong, if idols like Martin Garrix and Madeon are anything to go by, and rising producer Pluto is here to carry the torch forward. The 17-year-old artist from Pennsylvania has only been active for a year, but in that short time he’s toured most major North American festivals and released numerous singles accruing millions of streams.

Today, Pluto cements his position as one to watch via the launch of his new mixtape series, “outer thoughts,” showcasing entirely original music available for free download. Setting himself apart from a standard mixtape, the producer describes this new endeavor.

“As you guys know I’ve got my debut album coming up very soon, but I really wanted you all to still be able to hear what I’m cooking up in the meantime. I make waaaaay too much music to release it all, and I hate letting good beats go unused so I’m going to start dropping these tapes full of unreleased productions. Entirely original music every month.”

To have a debut album in the works and enough unreleased tracks to drop mixtapes full of them is seriously impressive for such a young artist, and there’s no shortage of quality production in today’s drop. The tape highlights a variety of styles from chilled-out, mid-tempo beats to more trap-leaning sounds, and truly exhibits Pluto’s blossoming talent.
