Turkish police seize more than 2.55-million ecstasy pills in country’s largest drug bust

Turkish police have seized 2.55 million ecstasy pills in what is now the country’s largest drug confiscation to date.

Istanbul police received a tip that a large delivery of drugs would be on its way from the Netherlands, leading officials to trace the tip to a truck that was found to contain massive quantities of a variety of illegal substances, including opium gum, acid, heroin, and cocaine.

Five people have since been detained by police after authorities initiated a raid spanning the lorry and various Istanbul and Erdirne locations. The gargantuan bust has since been discovered to be the product of “simultaneous operations” among various distributors.
