‘Avicii: True Stories’ documentary is coming to Netflix
After a retirement from touring in light of personal health scares in March of 2016, Avicii has once again returned to the limelight.
During a recent episode of his radio show, Avicii FM, he explained, “I’m releasing my documentary this weekend…Levan [Tsikurishvili], who’s the director of the documentary, has followed me for the past four years I think, four or five years.”
He continued, “He’s had so much material from both in the studio, from behind the scenes on concerts, during good and bad times. I’m really excited. I’m also a bit nervous because it is kind of gritty sometimes. It’s very personal. There’s a lot of ups and downs. It’s going to be interesting to see what people say. I think it’s going to be in a bunch of movie theatres and also on Netflix after that.”
Avicii: True Stories premiered on October 26 in selected cinemas worldwide. While the Netflix release date of the documentary remains unknown, fans can expect a true fly-on-the-wall experience.
The film’s director Tsikurishvili has said, “I wanted to do a brutally honest film about Tim as a person and not only about Avicii. Everybody knows Avicii but very few people know Tim. I think this documentary really shows Tim’s struggle and strength of character. Being a worldwide superstar artist is not as easy as it looks on Instagram.”
