IAMX announces new album and tour dates behind ‘Alive In New Light’

Chris Corner, formerly of the trip-hop proprietors, the Sneaker Pimps, founded his independent music project, IAMX, in 2004. Through an experimental lens, IAMX has wielded tunes in a multitude of genres, primarily within the realm of post-punk and emotional electronica.

“IAMX is basically my public therapy,” Corner says of the project on his website. “It’s my way of being able to connect with the world, to pour my heart out and dance at the same time. It’s also an excuse for me to play with who I am, to explore certain parts of my personality that I don’t get to explore in everyday life.”

After the release of the latest IAMX album, Unfall, in September of 2017, Corner has announced another new album will arrive on February 2.

With transformation and chaos at his core, Corner’s Alive In New Light is likely to be a cathartic, theatrical, and transcendent tale. With time used to internalize his move from Berlin to Los Angeles, Alive in New Light (AINL), will see IAMX exploring the intricacies of sonic mutation through his fascinations with sound, visual art, and makeup. Corner’s even gone so far as to enlist the postmodern tattoo and makeup powerhouse Kat Von D on four songs on the album.

Corner’s promised, “A cinematic celebration of breaking free from demons that have long plagued him, AINL captures the giddy phase of metamorphosis, when you are no longer what you were but not yet fully what you are becoming. The album is both a ‘thank you’ to fans and an invitation to the next phase in IAMX’s intoxicating journey of self-discovery.”

Fans of IAMX can see Corner in an entirely new light, in Europe during February and March, or in the US and Canada during April and May.
