A young girl named Caitlin is challenging the ideal that IKEA furniture assembly is notoriously perplexing, transforming one of the Swedish manufacturer’s shelf sets into a full-fledged modular synth. A marvel of dexterity and modern innovation, Caitlyn’s conversion of the shelf set into a viable music making instrument spans several videos that showcase the IKEA derived synth in its finished form. The Caitlyn led metamorphosis of the shelf set is made all the more impressive by her youth—Caitlyn has yet to hit high school, but judging from the success of her DIY project, her future is quite bright.
