Hoodboi takes half a step back from the electronic scene with his newest single, “Glide,” featuring Tkay Maidza, whose sweet, liquified rap-sing vocals sail over the track with poise.
Released via Fool’s Gold, the breezy, let-your-hair-down single seamlessly blends elements of nuanced house and sleek R&B, a sizable departure from Hoodboi’s characteristic, pitched-up Jersey club. The latter element is less shocking when considering the LA-based producer has been wowing audiences with his ’90s throwback club edits for years. Hoodboi has also toured with some of the scene’s blue-chips, such as Dillon Francis and Flosstradamus, securing collaborations with the likes of Alison Wonderland, Djemba Djemba, and fellow Jersey club aficionado, Lido.
