Aaro may not be a household name yet, but the young Finnish beatsmith is building a catalog of thoughtfully composed electro products that channel early Porter Robinson and Zedd characteristics into a freshly emerging new sound. He’s carving out his own brand of textured dance pieces, and his latest, “Sounds of My Imagination,” is proving to be one of his best outings to date. Somewhere between electro-soul and glitch hop, Aaro’s new original work ropes in evident 8-bit inspiration throughout, split in half by a melodic piano breakdown as a much-needed mid-track breather.

Wailing, euphoric guitar chords and thumping kicks give the track an appealing double use — it’s made for massive festival crowds and primed for enjoyable headphone listening all at once. Aaro continues to fine-tune his sound, and European dance imprint Tasty continues to prove a fitting home label for the bright up-and-comer.
