BTS’ ‘Love Yourself: Tear’ is first K-pop album to debut at no. 1 spot on Billboard 200 chart

BTS is sitting pretty.
The K-pop boy band’s third studio album, Love Yourself: Tear has become the first number one chart-topper for the group after debuting atop the Billboard 200 chart, which ranks the most popular albums of a given week in the US as per multi-metric consumption, assessed by traditional album sale counts, track equivalent albums, and streaming equivalent albums. Love Yourself: Tear is the first K-pop album to ascend to the first rank on the chart.
The album sold 135,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending May 24. 100,000 of that 135,000 were in traditional album sales.
