Claptone offers listeners another taste of forthcoming ‘FANTAST’ album in new single, ‘Birdsong’
The insistent tug of nature on Claptone’s own “quest for his soul” is perhaps most perceptible in the latest single to be released from FANTAST than any other. In the months leading up to the impending arrival of the album, Claptone has offered his listeners brief glimpses at the production’s sound, beginning with “In The Night,” continuing with “Stay The Night,” and extending even further with “Under the Moon.” “Birdsong” materializes as the fourth single to gain release, as FANTAST edges closer to its June 8 drop date.
Featuring the four-piece indie/electronic band, Zola Blood, “Birdsong” is an instrumentally textured, fluid tune complemented by a subtle, low-toned background beat. The most down tempo of all FANTAST singles released to date, “Birdsong” is a mellifluous departure from the piano-driven, upbeat numbers that have so far characterized the sophomore outing. “Birdsong” captures its titular inspiration with both poise and finesse.
