Soulwax teases forthcoming album with new single, ‘Essential Three’
Belgian dance outfit Soulwax has announced a new full-length studio album, Essential, to follow From Deewee, the group’s 2017 release which was their first new record released in more than a decade. Born out a call for the group to create a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, the new LP concept is the direct result of a focused studio session. It’s also the very first time a group has ever submitted an entire hour’s worth of music for the show.
“We decided to lock ourselves into our studio for two weeks and make an hour of new music based around the word ‘Essential’, instead of preparing a mix of already existing music. It felt like a challenge and something no-one had done. We loved the challenge of releasing a full record live on a radio show without people having any advance notice, and we always wanted to release it on DEEWEE after it was aired on Radio 1.”
Essential promises the same distinct approach to dance music that’s set the group apart over the years. So far, they’ve released two new singles from EP, “Essential Four” and now, the aqueous disco tune “Essential Three.” Both of which have distinct propelling energies to them that can’t help but draw listeners to the dance floor.
Essential is slated for release on June 22nd via DEEWEE / [PIAS].
