iZotope releases VocalSynth 2, helping producers create amazing-sounding vocals

iZotope has released VocalSynth 2, a comprehensive vocoder aimed to synthesize audio. Even better? It’s with iZotope‘s award-winning digital signal processing. Producers working with vocals will be all over this powerful plugin.

“VocalSynth 2 is next level,” David Guetta said of the tech. “I never dreamt I would be able to do this type of vocal manipulation to melodies and harmonies so easily.”

Enhancements from its predecessor, aptly named VocalSynth, include user interface improvements, new modules, new presets and more. For example, BioVox is a new module unique to VocalSynth 2. Inspired by articulatory synthesis, BioVox allows audio engineers to add clarity, nasal, and breath to their audio. With this tool, producers can even alter pronunciation within vocal tracks.

The plugin also has a Daft Punk-style vocoder, Linear Predictive Coding (LPC), a Talkbox popularized by The Who, Stevie Wonder, and Bon Jovi, and a Polyvox that creates vocal harmonies.

Other FX include pitch correction, dry voice gain, synth voice parameters, distortion, filter, transform, shred (unique to VocalSynth 2), chorus, delay, and ring modulation.

Producers mixing with iZotope’s Neutron 2 are in luck because VocalSynth2 integrates with the professional mixing VST. This way, audio engineers can effortlessly mix their synthesized audio.

Prices are affordable with rent-to-own at $9.99/month for 20 months. Ian Kirkpatrick gave his take on the new software and creates professional sounding vocals in less than three minutes. He produced Dua Lipa‘s “New Rules.”
