3LAU looks to fix music festivals through blockchain

3LAU is launching the first ever blockchain-powered festival, OUR Music Festival [OMF], alongside Prime Social Group and blockchain entertainment studio SingularDTV. The festival will take place at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza on Oct. 20, featuring Zedd as a headlining act.

At OMF, festival-goers can earn crypto-currency (OMF Tokens) merely by participating in the event’s community, thus providing value. This includes purchasing tickets, VIP upgrades, exclusive access, buying merch, food, drinks and more at future OMF festival and partner events. The partners of the festival believe this will solve many issues that have plagued the entertainment event landscape in the past such as ticket inflation, counterfeiting, scalping, little consumer control, and other industry inefficiencies.

OMF looks to unite the entertainment and technology industry, providing more control to those who are actively involved in the festival community rather than those passively profiting from it. This potential future can have festival goers influence festivals themselves, from lineup to location.

Other partners include digital marketing firm CrowdWaves, AM Only founder, Paradigm partner Paul Morris, and agency power players/strategy advisors Phil Quist, Lee Anderson, Hunter Williams and Sam Hunt. Looking ahead at future events, OMF wants to leverage the power of Ethereum and smart contract technology.

“The blockchain space is littered with promises that lack real world application,” 3LAU told Dancing Astronaut. “We’re throwing our first event this year to show our commitment to inciting change. While it will take time for OMF to reach its full potential, our team has studied blockchain-layered applications and legal compliance for years to facilitate realistic steps toward decentralization.”
