Martin Garrix and Khalid combine forces on ‘Oceans’
Martin Garrix teams up with Khalid on a highly anticipated new single, “Oceans.” The pair deliver a laid back pop track blending electronic tropes with elements of rock and R&B into a soothing soundscape polished by calming harmonies. Khalid’s sultry vocal work has an emotional range that Garrix mimics on the hook with distant vocal chops, fluttering guitar chords, and soft percussion.
A slight departure in style from the “Forever” producer’s normal fare, having recently built his catalog in a more energetic electro-pop lane with singers including Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, and Troye Sivan. R&B crooner Khalid’s foray into EDM continues successfully, following his most streamed song on Spotify to date, the Marshmello- assisted “Silence,” and 2017’s “Rollin” alongside Calvin Harris.
