Slushii lightens Imogen Heap’s ‘Hide and Seek’ with a future bass rinsing
The temptation to remix a popular classic is ever-persistent. Not only are producers consistently inspired by these groundbreaking songs of old, but adding their name onto a piece with such a known title is a great way to get their name out.
Imogen Heap‘s “Hide and Seek” falls into the category of frequently-remixed singles, and it looks like one of her latest admirers happens to be the up-and-coming bass talent Slushii. He recently shared what he defines as an “oldie” edit to her iconic record.
Where Imogen conjures sorrow through stirring vocals and minimal edits, the LA-based producer has added a cotton-candy twist to the original with cheery riffs of synthesizer and fluttering accents lining the background. Nothing is complete in a Slushii production without a smooth, future bass drop, of course — this re-work is certainly not lacking in this motif. Ultimately, we’re left with a bubbly piece that might not evoke the same emotive impact that Imogen sought, but nonetheless serves as a comfortable and nostalgic number for festival season.
