Ticketmaster UK releases statement confirming data breach
A small portion of Ticketmaster UK users will need to monitor their bank accounts for suspicious activity in the wake of a recent data breach at the UK branch of the ticket sales platform. Ticketmaster UK confirmed that it was the target of a hack on June 27, but reported that no North American customers were affected at the time.
Ticketmaster believes “less than five percent” of its customers to have been affected by the hack, during which names, email addresses, residential addresses, phone numbers, payment details, and Ticketmaster log in information was exposed. Those whose information was thought to be compromised during the breach will receive an account notification prompting those users to reset their passwords. Ticketmaster will additionally offer a free year-long identity monitoring service to anyone impacted by the hack. UK customers who purchased tickets between February and June 23, 2018 are at risk, as are international customers who completed sales on Ticketmaster from Sept. 2017 to June 23, 2018.
