Virgil Abloh to make Beats 1 radio debut with new ‘Televised Radio’ channel
From runways to radio airwaves, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director has a new design in mind.
On June 18, Virgil Abloh will host the introductory episode of his very own Beats 1 radio show on Apple Music from Louis Vuitton’s atelier in Paris. Entitled “Televised Radio,” the channel will act as an “audio mood board,” fusing new releases with time honored classics, while peppering musical selections with surprise guests who will join Abloh to discuss not only music, but art, design, and fashion.
“Music has an amazing ability to bring people together, and I couldn’t think of a better format to catalog all the multidisciplinary work I do under one umbrella,” Abloh said of the venture. “I’m using the two hours every so often to discuss various design projects and the rationale around them . . . in an effort to highlight my friends that make up my creative world. Apple’s design legacy and consideration of fostering art and design made it a perfect partnership.”
