Brace yourself: Boys Noize & Virgil Abloh’s highly anticipated EP is first-rate industrial techno grit
Nowadays, the German techno dilettante Boys Noize is expanding his horizons in a considerable fashion. He’s even rumoured as a producer on Lady Gaga’s next album, but what’s most commendable about Alex Ridha are his consistent underground underpinnings. It’s an exciting thing then to hear he may be working with an artist like Lady Gaga, an artitst with insurmountable reach, not to mention one who has the potential to bring to light an immense degree of experimentality with mainstream pop music.
What’s more of this release is that Abloh’s creative pursuals only continue to impress. Somehow the self-described “architect” of Off-White and Louis Vuitton creative auteur emerges from a techno bunker with pummeling urgency, too. Militant and unshakeable, even outright anxiety-inducing at points, the two’s creative chemistry is unparalleled. Together they’ve drawn up the blueprints for an impressive musical structure which is hopefully a project that’ll continue to be reworked and remodeled for quite some time
