Kimbra taps Snoop Dogg for rework of Skrillex-produced single, “Top of the World”
Kimbra has put out a reworked version of “Top of the World,” recruiting California rapper Snoop Dogg to add his touch to the original. The New Zealand singer and actress released her third studio album this year, Primal Heart, with “Top Of The World” being one of the more popular numbers on the album. Skrillex also served as a co-writer and producer on the single, taking its infectiousness to the next level.
While Snoop Dogg adds a vocal contrast to the already serene project, Skrillex’ influence becomes apparent through his signature vocal chops and prominent snare. Tribal chants and submerged sub bass rumblings provide an grounded canvas for Kimbra’s voice to shine. The project showcases eclectic vocals, combining distortion, singing, and rapping from the original alone. With the new rework, Snoop Dogg adds yet another distinct voice to elevate the already popular single.
