Listen to BBC Radio’s new Aphex Twin documentary, ‘The Cult of Aphex Twin’
BBC Radio mulls over the mystique of Aphex Twin in a new 30-minute documentary hosted by editor of the Quietus, John Doran. Entitled The Cult of Aphex Twin, the production features a series of brief interviews with a variety of creative figures, including electronic artist Tom Middleton, David Toop, Leila, and Vic Reeves.
A contemplative piece that casts several questions as key in its examination of Aphex Twin—i.e. “Does Aphex Twin’s Richard D James really write songs while asleep after training himself in the practice of lucid dreaming,” and “Does he drive a tank round Cornwall?,” among others—The Cult of Aphex Twin is a rapturous effort that delves as deeply as possible into the innovative curiosity of one of electronic music’s most transfixing personalities.
