Maceo Plex shares full remix of Remake’s classic “Blade Runner”
Drawing from his deep affinity for sci-fi film noir, Maceo Plex has shared his robust techno remix of Remake’s classic 90’s techno/progressive house track, “Blade Runner.” The offering is the next in Renaissance‘s still-developing ReMix Collection, which was capped off by contributions by Solomun and Tale Of Us.
Maceo Plex’s take on the iconic theme song is subtly melodic and distortion-heavy, with a techno vigor that doesn’t strangle the cinematic center. The remix captures the dramatic, shadowy allure of film noir, with futuristic overtones and synth lines that could easily be heard permeating through one of Blade Runner’s hologram-filled clubs. Maceo Plex says he has long-admired Remake’s rendition—which was a glistening high-point on Renaissance’s 1994 mix collection, mixed by ageless, ever-blazing techno titans Sasha and John Digweed.
“The original Vangelis soundtrack for the movie Blade Runner is my all-time favourite cinema soundtrack and one of my favourite records from the early 90s is the cover “Blade Runner” by Remake,” he says.
Limited edition vinyl of the track is expected July 20, and can be pre-ordered here.
