Mysterious Aguelando unveils remix for Vargas & Lagola’s ‘Roads’

In 2016, Sebastian Ingrosso posted a behind-the-scenes video of his tour with Axwell. The short, 14-second video was an on-brand goof off between gigs in Mexico City, along with the witty back-and-forth expected from the two Swedish artists after their years of friendship and working together as Swedish House Mafia and now Axwell /\ Ingrosso. The clip feels insignificant, as a view into the day to day life of the artists, but has an Easter egg hidden in its content.

In the end, Axwell ends up clarifying his new nickname as “Aguelando,” which at the time feels like an innocuous claim of the moment. That is, until Aguelando released a remix of Shapov‘s “Belong” on Axwell’s label, Axtone, later that year.

Since then, we haven’t heard much from Aguelando, until a new remix EP appeared featuring the artist. This time it’s from Vargas & Lagola — also known as Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare — a duo of seasoned experience in the electronic world, and especially in the Swedish music scene. The remix is of their latest release, “Roads,” and features an uplifting, nostalgic pop vocal from the original, and a stripped-down, deeper production style that we saw on Aguelando’s first remix.
