Premiere: Mija thrills in remix of CHVRCHES’ ‘Miracle’
In early April, CHVRCHES unveiled a sensational single called “Miracle.” Here, a few months later, versatile producer Mija has taken on the track, flipping it into a dreamy techno wonderland.
Instead of diving headfirst into the original’s dramatic chorus, Mija launches into a slick breakdown. Highlighted by a playful melody, her interpretation of “Miracle” toys with lead singer Lauren Mayberry’s vocals. Mija chops them up in an off-kilter fashion, creating an unstable environment before merging back into a glossy, smoothed-out interlude. Over the course of the remix’s four and a half minutes, Mija leads her listeners from a dark warehouse to a light-filled lounge, allowing them to imagine “Miracle” as an entirely different animal.
Her “Miracle” remix follows May’s self-released drum & bass original called “Talk” and a seven-track EP released earlier this year. The “Miracle” remix package also includes reworks by Manila Killa, IHF, and The Juan Maclean. It’s out Friday, July 27 via Glassnote Records.
