QUIX delivers heartfelt tribute to Mr. Carmack by flipping ‘Rogue’

QUIX has delivered a beautiful tribute to Mr. Carmack by reworking “Rogue” off the Hawaiian’s Bang Vol. 3 project. On the heels of his “Look Back” remix for Diplo and DRAM, the New Zealand bass producer creates a celestial, orchestral build with a synthscape, future bass hook, punching snares, and vinyl texture.

QUIX wholeheartedly admitted Mr. Carmack is his inspiration, playing a major role in his perspective about music production. The original “Rogue” was the first track he ever heard of Carmack’s, and after that, down the rabbit hole he went into the prolific beatmaker’s seemingly endless original library.

Noting this very special connection, the producer currently on his QUIX summer tour took the time to praise his inspiration and draw attention to the care and detail put forward by his tribute.

“Mr. Carmack is actually my absolute inspiration and he’s played a big part in my music perspective over the years,” he says in the track description. “I just didn’t want to make a generic future bass flip of this track but I wanted to make something I really felt connected to and something that made me feel special for the intro/build and into the drop.”
