Spotify launches feature to streamline new music submission process
In June 2018, a study conducted by various resources including the National Bureau of Economic Research to the University of Minnesota and the European Commission’s Joint Research Center all came to a stunning conclusion: an artist can make up to $163,000 more royalties when their song gets on a sought-after Spotify playlist. This of course cements the importance of Spotify streams in any career, whether aspiring or veteran artist.
Spotify launched a new beta program on July 18 in an attempt to help break down the barrier of access to such playlists, with wider and more democratic access to submissions for unreleased music. With this new feature, those with Spotify for Artists accounts or label reps with access to Spotify Analytics can now simply select unreleased music and hit submit in order to be considered for playlists across the board.
Now giving all artists “unprecedented, efficient and easy access to Spotify’s entire global editorial team,” with Nick Holmsten, Vice President of Content & Global Head of Shows & Editorial saying,“We’ve listened to feedback from the creative community, and developed a new feature that enables them to easily submit unreleased music for playlist consideration to our entire worldwide team of playlist editors.”
