16-year-old boy dies after being found unresponsive at Lollapalooza

16-year-old Mundelein teen Evan Kitzmiller was pronounced dead on Sunday, August 5 after he was found in an unresponsive state at Lollapalooza. Kitzmiller was immediately taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after being found in the 300 block of East Randolph Street at approximately 7:50 PM on Sunday. Kitzmiller was pronounced dead at 8:59 PM.
Police have yet to determine the cause of Kitzmiller’s death. The Cook County Examiner’s Office will conduct Kitzmiller’s autopsy, while city detectives move forward with their own death investigation. Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications deemed Kitzmiller’s death a “medical emergency.”
