Illenium parts ways with Seeking Blue and strikes deal with Astralwerks/Capitol Records

A watershed moment in the swiftly rising dance act’s still-incipient career, Illenium has parted ways with his longtime label, Seeking Blue, and has secured a momentous contract with industry giant, Astralwerks. In addition to housing his wildly successful first two albums, Seeking Blue also released Illenium’s breakthrough single, atmospheric chillstep track, “Afterlife,” featuring Echos.

Word of the split spread last week when Illenium released “Take You Down,” on Astralwerks. While he has yet to release a statement, his management confirmed the split and subsequent new partnership. A deal with Astralwerks is a promising sign for the young artist’s already-burgeoning notoriety, as the imprint has also housed blue chip acts from across the spectrum, including Empire of the Sun, Halsey, Sia, Porter Robinson, and The Chemical Brothers. Illenium’s alignment with label, in conjunction with his eclipsing an overall one billion amassed streams, is undoubtedly evidence of his stepping outside the shroud of esotericism and into more widespread prominence.
