Justin Jay’s ‘Take Me To Your Leader’ rework is an easy-listening club anthem

When the chorus of Walker & Royce‘s booty-shaking anthem “Take Me To Your Leader” comes on on the dancefloor, all hell breaks loose. Fans of the fortuitous flock know what to do — like a longtime staple in the clubbing world, feet hit the floor and the shufflers are all shuffling, but when Justin Jay reworks the track, the world stops. Madness has a nice look at itself, spits on its hands a bit, rubs them together, shakes Jay’s hand and gets to work, and that madness is just what Jay’s channeled with his new remastering of the track. It’s becoming hard to believe that the duo released Self Help just last year.

It’s a bit of a different approach for the Dirtybird purveyor, more prolonged and exhaustive in the single drone pattern and simple bass line than any of Jay’s earlier material, but it’s an outright testament to his versatility behind the decks nonetheless.
