KITTENS releases debut project, ‘Zanan & On’
KITTENS knows how to create hype. The Los Angeles producer has been doing so for nearly a year, creating mixes and through her charity focusing on women’s DJ workshops, PWR WITH KITTENS. Through that time, she’s gained respect, but hasn’t been releasing any original music of her own. Now, the day has come where she’s made her debut as a solo artist with a two-track EP out via Fool’s Gold Records, Zanan & On.
Listeners are immediately faced with KITTENS’ musical intentions on this EP through its laid-back, multi-layered deep productions. The EP’s first track might be a crossover hip-hop record, but through Flipp Dinero and Kollision, “To Light” emerges as a purposeful, alluring single that shows off her production agility. The EP’s title track serves as an instrumental fallen from the same tree, but with a world music influence that ebbs and flow along with a sword-like edge.
