Anderson .Paak will collaborate with Kendrick Lamar on upcoming new project

Recently, Anderson .Paak posted a photo with fellow hip-hop heavyweight Kendrick Lamar to his Instagram page with the caption “October 4th,” and understandably set the internet ablaze.

.Paak recently revealed to Rolling Stone that he will release the follow up to his Grammy-nominated 2016 album Malibu, this time entitled Oxnard, by the end of the year. Paired with this photo, fans can undoubtedly expect a joint project from the upcoming release to be released on of course, October 4. This will be the two artists’ first official collaboration together, barring a feature together on “Deep Water” from Dr. Dre‘s 2015 album Compton.

Speaking of The Doctor, the Instagram Easter egg was later followed by photo confirmation of the hip-hop icon’s involvement in Oxnard. The Aftermath head honcho has been on album mixing duties, but he’s not the only rap veteran getting in on .Paak’s new project. The latest addition here appears to be Q-Tip, though the capacity of his involvement still remains to be confirmed. Paak captioned the photo, “Take a second to appreciate what’s happening around you…” as he sits surrounded by hip-hop greatness.

While a release date for Oxnard has not yet been confirmed, October 4 is right around the corner, and a K. Dot feature seems imminent.
