Don Diablo tags Gucci Mane and Emile Sandé for empowering future bass collab ‘Survive’
It may be tough to imagine an EDM crossover collab still raising eyebrows in 2018. Artists ranging from Skrillex to Kygo have made pop-savvy dance tunes featuring radio royalty Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and more. Still, anyone who saw a futuristic meeting of worlds between Don Diablo, Emeli Sandé and trap rap icon Gucci Mane likely had a crystal ball. The three of them make future house magic on a new single titled “Survive,” arriving via Diablo’s Hexagon imprint.
Emile Sandé kicks things off with hair-raising melodrama, her choruses meshing perfectly with the track’s epic atmospherics. Don Diablo lets the stuttering beat worm its way into listeners’ ears before Gucci Mane takes over on what has to be the most unique backdrop for bars the rapper has ever met. Gucci’s verse is sure to surprise those who though the ingredients couldn’t possibly fit, his triumphant brags providing instant swagger.
“It’s just one of those records that needed to be absolutely perfect, from start to finish,” Diablo told Billboard. “I wanted to it to stand out and combine three worlds into one; a Dutch music producer, an incredible British singer songwriter, and one of the biggest U.S. rappers of today. I am more than proud of the final outcome, and hope the music and the message of the song will motivate people to dream big and see beyond the clouds of their personal challenges.”
