Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonde’ makes Billboard 200 for 100 weeks

Frank Ocean continues to be the exception when it comes to needing social media to promote music. His third studio album Blonde, which was released in 2016, has now spent 100 weeks on the Billboard 200.

Records reveal the 17-track project has stayed consistently on the album chart for almost two years, despite the high influx of albums that have released since. Standout records from Blonde including “Nikes,” “Solo,” “Ivy,” and “Pink + White” featuring Beyoncé.

While Ocean exploded on the scene with “Channel Orange,” he also came up alongside Tyler, The Creator and his Odd Future clan. Tyler recently spoke about his friendship with Ocean in an interview with Fantastic Man. “Being around him when he was making it was just fun,” Tyler said. “It was, like, he would rent houses and stuff to record in. I mean, I didn’t know you could do that. That’s a big homie. His shit is tight.”

Earlier this year in May, Blonde was the subject for the third season of Spotify’s Dissect, where the host, Cole Cuchna, spent hundreds of hours breaking down the lyrics and music of Frank’s catalog.
