Lil Wayne’s long-awaited LP ‘Tha Carter V’ gets release date
Lil Wayne‘s The Carter V has been stuck in rap purgatory for years, but the long-awaited project could finally see the light of day as early as September 21. Fans can’t be blamed for beginning to feel the project would never be heard. A falling out turned legal dispute with Cash Money records boss Birdman put the album in a brutal holding pattern, with one soap opera twist after another. There were shots fired on social media, literal shots fired at Weezy’s tour bus, a $51 million lawsuit, and the dark side of the music industry generally exploding violently into view like something straight out of an Alien movie. But when Wayne’s lawsuit against his former label boss was resolved in June, hopes for another Carter installment took hold again.
Lil Wayne’s Young Money records imprint is now officially unaffiliated with its former ill fated home, and telltale clues pointing to a September 21 release date are spreading like wildfire. Young Money’s Twitter account posted what appears to be Tha Carter V’s album cover, while both Floyd Mayweather and ChampSports mention September 21 specifically in social posts about the LP. There’ve been plenty of false starts over the years, but all things considered it looks like it won’t be long before Weezy F Baby is back.
