Avicii label and estate weighing possibility of posthumous album release

Amidst the dance music world’s heartfelt tributes and sense of loss after Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) passed away earlier this year, there was still hope that his music would literally continue to live on in the form of unreleased material. Now, close friend and “Wake Me Up” collaborator Aloe Blacc has breathed new life into the idea, telling The Daily Star newspaper:

“There are several songs left. I believe the record label is working with his parents and the estate to find a way to bring these unreleased songs to the public.”

This latest development comes on the heels of tantalizing comments from the incomparable Nile Rodgers, with the musician revealing in September that he and Avicii recorded ten or more unreleased tracks together. All in all, it appears there may be an entire album’s worth of as yet unheard tunes, and fans will surely be keeping fingers crossed. That the dance icon’s label and estate are reportedly in discussion about an official posthumous release means the reality of one last Avicii LP may be inching closer.
