Swedish House Mafia officially announce first reunion tour stop, confirm new music in 2019
The announcement the world’s been waiting for is finally officially here: Swedish House Mafia has announced their first reunion tour stop and confirmed new music is coming.
After weeks of teasing some sort of announcement in their hometown of Stockholm, the trio has revealed they will reunite for a show there on May 4, 2019. The performance will take place at Tele2 Arena, with more tour dates to be announced at a later date. Tickets go on sale October 27 and can be purchased here.
During the press conference, the members said they’d be putting their individual projects of Axwell Λ Ingrosso and Steve Angello on hold to dedicate all their time and effort to Swedish House Mafia. They don’t regret breaking up five years ago, though, saying they needed a break from the project. But that time has come to an end. In a translation from the press conference, the trio announced that they “felt it was time” to get the group back together.
“[We] have gone long enough between the end and now. We have so many fans who have been waiting for years.”
New music, too, is coming and will be in Swedish House Mafia style. “It will not be a new rougher type music like what is popular right now, it will stay Swedish House Mafia style.”
