Erol Alkan teases first solo work in four years ahead of single release
Not having released music on his own in more than four years, esteemed DJ and tastemaker Erol Alkan has left fans craving new tunes. Announcing his soon to be released 12″ single record, the former BBC Radio, Phonox London, and Boiler Room resident DJ has shared an edit of his upcoming track “Silver Echoes.”
Sitting on the softer side of Erol Alkan’s catalog, “Silver Echoes” allows the listener to become entranced with the track’s ever-present melody. The track is one of two singles coming from Alkan next month. While noting that “Silver Echoes” “has that thread of melancholy which seems to manifest itself in much of what [he] does,” fans of the DJ’s heavier side need not worry. The other release on the two-track project, titled “Spectrum,” is a testament to “the kind of club records [he] felt [he] needed to make” since he started playing longer sets. Releasing on his own label, Phantasy Sound, on November 9, this new piece of Alkan’s catalog is not one to be missed.
