Luca Lush rereleases dual-threat trap psytrance heater, ‘Another Life,’ off Mad Decent

Diplo has reaffirmed his taste for bass and trap with the release of “Another Life” by Luca Lush featuring Aviella on his Mad Decent imprint. The new single beguiles listeners with a euphoric, mostly uplifting anticipation with only a smattering of dark tones.

However, as the track progresses, body-trembling 808s and erratic, cascading synths dominate the piece, until Aviella’s sultry vocals provide a brief respite amongst a vail of arpeggiated, distorted synths. This time around, we’re introduced to quick change-up of double timed psytrance. Throughout the song, listeners get pulled from elated, to demonstrative, to calm, to ecstatic as listeners go on a genre-roller coaster no one asked for but then become pleasurably delighted at the diversity and originality.

In the Mad Decent label bosses remix EP of California, he enlisted the talents of QUIX and UNKWN for some heavy bass remixes, so this exploration towards the fringes while maintaining mass appeal continues to place Diplo at the upper echelon of tastemaking. Luca Lush was also recently called on for Diplo and Friends mix on Diplo’s BBC Radio 1 show.
