Mat Zo returns to Anjunabeats for the extensive ‘No Words’ EP
Fans of Mat Zo, are more than familiar with his many sonic identities. There’s the dark and wobbly stylings of his Kill the Zo project with Kill the Noise, there’s the funky groove of his latest single, “Vice,” and the melodic beauty employed in tracks like “Easy” with Porter Robinson. And of course — to some, most importantly — there is the Mat Zo of Anjunabeats. Nearly five years after his last solo release with the label, he has made a triumphant return with a three-song, six-track EP entitled No Words.
Normally, we get these different versions of the UK artist throughout various singles, or quieter versions of themselves across his albums Damage Control and Self Assemble. But this latest release is about as deep into his classic sound as Mat Zo gets, staying true to its mission of committing to the ethereal, melodic electronic that launched a career. Highlighting his talents in trance and progressive, this return is a welcome one in its complexity and its demand for our full attention from start to finish.
