Richie Hawtin confirms new music from his Plastikman alias is on the way
Fans of Richie Hawtin‘s more introverted and mysterious Plastikman alias got some huge news this week, with the techno giant confirming to fans via Twitter they can expect a new LP and tour from the project in 2019.
Hawtin told a fan in a response he’d have to wait for his current CLOSE live tour to wrap before his alias truly resurfaced, so it may be some time before we get a glimpse of the next Plastikman era. Still, it’s exciting news from a side of Hawtin the dance music scene has been missing since 2014’s EX live album. The Plastikman alias first surfaced in 1993 and has since been the moniker of multiple EPs and albums, but the alter ego has been less active in the past several years. New Plastikman means new wonderfully weird and experimental tunes from one of techno’s preeminent minds, and fans should keep their eyes and ears peeled as 2019 nears.
