Kayzo releases heavy metal dubstep hybrid, ‘WASTED SPACE,’ alongside rock veterans Underoath
Kayzo has come full circle on his latest release, linking with veteran metal band, Underoath on a new single, “WASTED SPACE.” The track’s cutting vocals are accompanied by running guitar that quickly dives into full screamo territory. Punk-inspired percussion elements build the anticipation, culminating in headbang-primed guttural screams from Underoath’s lead vocalist Spencer Chamberlain. The complementary nature of bass music and post-hardcore rock create an ideal crossover environment for the unadulterated dance-punk mayhem that Kayzo crafts on his latest.
The Florida-native metal titans were an inspiration to a younger Kayzo during his days as a hockey player. Says Kayzo,
“When I was told of the opportunity to work with Underoath, it brought me back to my hockey days prior to music. Their album They’re Only Chasing Safety was on heavy rotation for me during my athletic career.”
The new single follows Kayzo’s “FAKE FAKE FAKE,” which features the emo stylings of Italian punk rock band XO Sad. The Icon Collective graduate was also enlisted by Papa Roach to do a re-work to their massively popular, “Last Resort,” earlier this year, and reps for the Houston-born DJ suggest Kayzo has a lot more rock-influenced electronic material in the chamber.
