Knife Party debut new ‘Ghost Town’ demo on ‘Knifecast’ podcast

Knife Party, kicked off their very first episode of their progressively developing “Knifecast” podcast with the debut of a brand new track that has yet to be titled. Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen described the concept as a format that rests “halfway between a podcast and playing music.” The pair were adamant that they didn’t want to just produce a weekly mix, but rather a dynamic and engaging show that would feature guests, and on-air Q&A sessions featuring fan-submitted questions. Knife Party provided a memorable finale to their inaugural installment of “Knifecast” with their inclusion of a lengthy ID at the episode’s end, pointing to additional new material underway.

As episode eight of the series affirms, the previously shared ID did in fact foreshadow more unreleased material to come. In their latest episode, the Abandon Ship producers treat listeners to a first taste of a current work in progress by the name of “Ghost Town.” At once a glance back at classic Knife Party sound, intertwined with more modern electronic sonic influence, “Ghost Town” foregrounds Swire’s distinctive vocals atop electro-charged synth arrangements. Knife Party’s plans for the release currently remain unclear, but will certainly come into sharper focus with the ensuing episodes of “Knifecast.”
