Premiere: Housemeister — Soo Good (Original Mix)
For well over a decade, Housemeister has acted as an influential tastemaker and producer in the more underground spheres of house, electro, and techno. To American audiences, the German artist is likely best known for his numerous releases on Boysnoize Records, the famed imprint from his compatriot Alex Ridha. However, Housemeister’s résumé spans far more widely than BNR itself; in addition to helming his own All You Can Beat (AYCB) label, the artist has established a notable presence across an eclectic smattering of imprints and festivals, remaining ever-prolific throughout his career. In 2018 alone, as he gears up for a 2019 album release, Housemeister has released three EPs .
On November 16, the hardworking house hyper-purveyor will release his newest output, “Soo Good,” a two-track effort featuring his eponymous single alongside a remix from Kompakt veteran T. Rauschmiere. Featuring an amalgam of haunting top-line elements, detuned synthesis, perennially-driving percussion, and soulful vocal samples, “Soo Good” seemingly — and seamlessly — draws from a vast variety of house sub-categorizations, reaffirming the mastery of the genre which the artist’s moniker professes. With this offering, Housemeister serves as the inaugural release on the newly-formed Unreel, a Berlin-based, exclusively digital imprint. Undoubtedly, “Soo Good” sets a self-evident precedent for what’s to come from Unreel in and beyond its infancy.
