Sink into the luxuriant soundscape that is xxyyxx’s latest, ‘home’
xxyyxx‘s singles are few and far in between, and the often expansive gaps that distance one xxyyxx release from its predecessor only heightens the excitement around each new output from the electronic melody weaver. The “About You” producer combined his creative efforts with those of Cincinnati artist, Nova Moura in September on “Gone Girl,” and now follows the collaboration’s earlier arrival with “home.”
A lush number that invites listeners to sink into the song’s soft, feathery soundscape, “home” foregrounds singer Vanessa Elisha’s looped vocals. Elisha is memorable for her past work with xxyyxx on “Out Of Time.” A deep background beat creeps closer into auditory prominence as the single progresses, providing a perceptible, but not overpowering, low-end that tastefully contrasts with the elevated tone of Elisha’s vocals. The downtempo track is a subdued, yet brilliant showing.
